This year, insights from 286,800+ survey responses collected throughout 2024* are giving us a glimpse into the preferences, habits, and dreams of travelers in 2025. The results? Who’s traveling?
Millennials and Gen Z are leading the charge, making up 84% of respondents and driving trends with their appetite for exploration, community, and meaningful experiences in our 2025 travel trends.
Women are at the forefront, accounting for 77% of all responses. Putting this in line with what we heard from our friends over at Condé Nast Traveler—female travelers are increasingly embracing thrill-seeking and solo adventures, redefining what it means to travel independently. It’s clear that this demographic is shaping the future of travel.
How much are people spending?
This year, budgets are thoughtful but not frugal. The median travel budget for 2025 sits at $2,000, with the average climbing to $2,955. A quarter of travelers are ready to spend $3,000 or more, reflecting a growing demand for premium, well-organized trips. Simplified options like all-inclusive packages—or almost all-inclusive group travel experiences—are gaining popularity for their ease and value, making it easier for travelers to splurge on unforgettable experiences.
Where are travelers going?
Globally, classic destinations are holding strong. Italy and Greece top the list, followed by Bali, Costa Rica, and Japan. As some of the best places to travel in 2025, locations offer a mix of culture, relaxation, and adventure that appeals to today’s travelers.
Domestically, nature reigns supreme. Alaska continues to capture imaginations, joined by iconic spots like Yellowstone, Yosemite, and the Colorado Rockies. Meanwhile, city lovers are flocking to New York for its unbeatable energy.
What do travelers want?
Travelers are prioritizing trips that last 7–10 days, balancing immersion with convenience. While summer is still a favorite time to travel, spring and fall are gaining traction as ideal seasons to avoid crowds and enjoy pleasant weather.
2025 travel insights show that experiences are king, with food and beverage tours, beach relaxation, cultural exploration, and outdoor adventures topping wish lists. Nature-rich destinations like Alaska and Costa Rica remain favorites, but there’s also a noticeable increase in travelers willing to spend more for unique and memorable journeys. Solo travel and female-led adventures reflect broader societal shifts toward independence and empowerment, making 2025 a banner year for exploration.
