Your guided walking tour of downtown Lima will begin at the heart of the city, Plaza Mayor, or Plaza de Armas. Founded in 1535 and now the historic center of Lima, the Plaza is bordered by palaces, Spanish colonial buildings, the magnificent Lima Metropolitan Cathedral and Palacio de la Unión, a Peruvian monument of national heritage.

Central Market Visit

The Central Market is a multi-level, fresh produce market with everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to meat and seafood. With a variety of food stalls to choose from, you will have the opportunity to taste some local Peruvian favorites.

Lunch at a traditional "Chifa" restaurant, a mix of the Peruvian and Chinese gastronomy, very popular among Peruvians families.

Evening Street Food Tour

1 Hour

This evening you will visit the hip Barranco neighborhood, home of Peru’s artists, musicians, designers and photographers. This historical bohemian district is alive with street art, colorful buildings and walkways and has magnificent panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. Your Guide will take you to the best street food spots to sample the most popular Limeñan snacks like ‘anticuchos’ (a grilled beef kebab) and ‘picarones’ (a squash and sweet potato donut, covered in syrup). Finish the night like a true Limeño, with a visit to a vibrant bar! Enjoy two included Pisco sours and a local beer and spend the evening listening to live music with your travel buddies.

Cusco Walking Tour

Cusco, located high in the Andes was the capital of the Inca Empire and Qorikancha, or ‘temple of the sun god Inti’ was the most important temple in the empire. You’ll tour the ‘Plaza de Armas’, with its Spanish architecture, magnificent churches and Cathedral Basilica, built in the 16th century. Finally, you’ll visit the picturesque and historic neighborhood of San Blas, with its remnants of ancient Incan civilization.

Lunch (set menu) will be included at Mama Seledonia, a restaurant that helps and supports young single mothers and teenagers in rural areas with talent and passion for cooking. If available, you’ll have the opportunity to meet Mrs. Seledonia, the owner of this restaurant and project.

Cooking Class with a Professional Chef

In the afternoon, you will learn more about Peruvian food with a cooking class that will teach you to prepare traditional recipes handed down over generations. You’ll stop at a local market to discover some Peruvian treasures (yes, we mean food — the best kind of treasures!). Explore a huge variety of fruits, vegetables, and fiery spices, and maybe make a purchase or two. Next, you’ll head to the studio where you will have a practical class and will learn to prepare nutritious and healthy dishes using the most representative ingredients guided by our Peruvian professional chef. Enjoy a refreshing drink and a four-course tasting menu. At the end of the tour, you will enjoy what you have cooked!

Rise and shine! After breakfast, you’ll leave Cusco and make your way to the Sacred Valley.

Sacred Valley Agricultural Tour

2 Hours

The Sacred Valley, located in the Andean highlands, includes the Spanish colonial villages of Chinchero and Ollantaytambo, as well as the town of Cusco and the ancient city of Machu Picchu. Together these areas formed the heart of the Inca Empire. The rustic town of Chinchero is missed by many but has some interesting spots for visitors to see. A beautiful adobe church sits on the plaza, which can be visited daily. You’ll visit a local community to learn about their agricultural processes and depending on the season, you’ll be shown how the produce is cultivated or harvested.

Then, you’ll head to the beautiful Piuray lagoon, for an amazing traditional culinary experience. You will taste traditional Pachamanca, a Peruvian dish based on baking with the aid of hot stones, of potatoes, lamb, mutton, pork, chicken or guinea pig marinated with Andean ingredients. You will see how the chef makes the Pachamanca and enjoy of this traditional dish while you relax in a unique Andean landscape, surrounded by mountains, farmlands and the Piuray Lagoon.

Craft Brewery Visit

Enjoy a tour and tasting at one of the Sacred Valley’s first craft breweries. Try a pint of the fruity local IPA, the citrusy American pale ale or the caramel malts of the Ayrampo Roja red ale.

General Travel Questions

Do I need any documentation to travel?

It depends on where you're headed. Though it is not a universal requirement, many countries require that your passport be valid for at least six months beyond your arrival date. This ensures Travelers have sufficient time to return home even if their visas are extended or if unexpected circumstances arise. 

Some destinations may also require a visa. Check our visa page to consult your country's travel resources.

Do I need any vaccines?

It's always best to check with your healthcare provider or a travel doctor before your trip. You can also visit the CDC website (or your local government's travel health resource) for destination-specific vaccine guidance. Health and safety first!

Are flights included in the trip cost?

Because our Hosts and Travelers are coming from all around the world, flights to and from your destination are not included. Some trips include internal flights (like a short domestic hop), and those details will always be listed on the trip page if applicable.

Can you accommodate my dietary needs?

We’ll do our very best! Our Operators aim to accommodate dietary restrictions, though availability varies by destination. For example, some places offer plenty of vegan and vegetarian choices, while others might be quite limited. The earlier you let us know—through your trip form or by contacting our support team—the better we can prepare. Once you arrive, be sure to remind your local Guide about any allergies or restrictions so they can help you enjoy your meals safely and comfortably.
