You're off to El Chaltén, a village within Los Glaciares National Park. Enjoy your first hike of the week!

From El Calafate to El Chalten

8:00 AM: Enjoy a picturesque transfer through the Patagonian steppe, where you'll be treated to awe-inspiring vistas of Argentino and Viedma lakes, the De Las Vueltas River, and the iconic Fitz Roy Mountain.

Mirador de Los Cóndores y Águilas Hike

3 Hours

2:00PM.: The Mirador de Los Cóndores y Águilas (the Condor and Eagle viewpoints) trails are used for hiking, nature trips and bird watching. As the name suggests, the viewpoint is perfect for observing condors as they fly between the valleys of the De Las Vueltas and Fitz Roy rivers. Walk to the trailhead right from your hotel and enjoy views of this charming town. Since it can get windy on this trail, make sure to have some layers with you. Duration: 2-3 hours / Difficulty: Easy / Length: 3-4 miles. Please note: All hikes are subject to change due to weather.

Rise and shine and prepare for a big day of hiking! Today you will set out on the Laguna de Los Tres - the highlight of El Chaltén.

Laguna de Los Tres Hike

8:00 AM.: This hike will take you across the Del Salto Stream and its icy blue water, where the surrounding orange rocks create a picturesque foreground to Mount Fitz Roy. The trail finishes at the ridge of the rocky De Los Tres Glacier - an enormous natural arch containing the clear blue water of the lagoon with magnificent views of the De Los Tres glacier. This is the closest and most extraordinary view of the granite wall of Mount Fitz Roy and surrounding peaks. Since it can get windy on this trail, make sure to have some layers with you. Distance: 16 miles / Duration: 8-9 hours / Difficulty: Moderate-difficult / Elevation Gain: 2,300 ft. Please note: All hikes are subject to change due to weather.

9:30 AM. An aquatic way to enjoy El Chaltén! If you are tired of walking and want an adrenalin fueled adventure enjoy an amazing trip down the River de las Vueltas, views of the mountains and the stunning canyon full of amazing geological faults carved out by the river itself. No transfer is required for this activity; your tour leader will walk with you to the rafting spot. We recommend bringing a towel and an extra set of clothing with you.

Today you'll hike up to a viewpoint much different than the other trails in the area on a hike to Loma del Pliegue Tumbado.

Loma del Pliegue Tumbado Hike

8:00AM.: The Loma del Pliegue Tumbado is a chain of three round rocky summits at 1340m, 1420m and 1550m. This hike offers you the most impressive views of the entire El Chaltén area. From the summit, you can see Cerro Torre and Fitzroy and their glaciers to the north, as well as the impressive Rio Tunel Valley to the south. Since it can get windy on this trail, make sure to have some layers with you. Duration: 7-9 hours / Difficulty: Moderate-difficult / Length: 13-14 miles / Elevation Change: 3,610 ft. Please note: All hikes are subject to change due to weather.

Info

For the final hike here in El Chaltén, you'll close out the trip with a relaxing hike to Cerro Torre viewpoint. In the afternoon you´ll head back to El Calafate.

Cerro Torre Viewpoint Hike

8:00AM.: The trek starts with a 10 minute uphill climb in order to leave the valley that El Chaltén is located in. The walk takes you through a lovely lenga forest and affords views of the Fitz Roy river canyon running alongside. While walking don’t forget to look overhead, there may be a condor searching for its next feed! After some more gentle climbing, you arrive at the Torre viewpoint. From here you can enjoy the views of the whole Torre Valley and its various terminal moraines from different ice ages, in the foreground. In the distance you will be able to admire the granite towers of Torre and Fitz Roy and all their satellite mountains. You will have time to sit here, enjoy the view and listen to some climbing tales that the guide will be able to share with you. Afterwards you will head back along the same path to El Chaltén – this time looking towards the steppe and other mountains! Since it can get windy on this trail, make sure to have some layers with you. Duration: Approx. 4 hours / Distance: 7km/ Difficulty: Moderate Please note: All hikes are subject to change due to weather.

Wake up and enjoy your last full day exploring with friends! Experience an unforgettable adventure in the icy world of Patagonia by visiting the iconic UNESCO World Heritage site, Perito Moreno Glacier.

Perito Moreno Glacier Ice Trek (optional)

9:00AM.: After exploring the glacier by boat and disembarking on the opposite shore, you will walk along the lateral side and ascend over the ice. This moderate circuit on the ice will introduce you to the fascinating glacial landscape, which looks as if you were on another planet. Notice the most incredible shades of blue as you pass streams, small lagoons, crevasses and sculptural ice formations. Truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

What do the activity levels mean?

Every trip has a physical Activity Level from 1 to 5 so you can find the right fit for your travel style:

  • Level 1 – Relax + Unwind: Minimal movement (spa days, beach lounging, local markets)
  • Level 2 – Low-Key Movement: Light, easy-paced activity (snorkeling, boat tours, gentle hikes)
  • Level 3 – Moderate Activity: Ready to move (multi-day hikes, skiing, camping)
  • Level 4 – Get Your Heart Rate Up: More intense movement (long hikes, biking, active days)
  • Level 5 – Extreme Adventure: High-adrenaline travel (challenging hikes, dives, technical climbs – experience may be required)

What does "or similar" mean next to the accommodations?

When we say “or similar,” it means the hotel listed is an example of what you can expect—not always the exact spot you'll be staying. Sometimes Operators adjust accommodations due to seasonal availability or group size. But rest assured: the quality and comfort will match what's shown.

Why would the accommodations change from time of booking?

Flexibility allows Operators to choose the best-fit accommodations closer to your trip—based on availability, logistics, and what works best for the group (like the number of Travelers and room configurations). This ensures a smooth experience without sacrificing comfort or quality.

Finalized hotel info is typically shared about 30 days before departure in your Traveler Portal, along with your final itinerary.

Who actually runs my trip, and how does Trova keep things safe?

Your trip is operated by licensed, certified Tour Operators who manage all trip logistics and safety—from accommodations and local Guides and day-to-day logistics. All trips comply with local legal and regulatory standards. We vet each Operating partner carefully so you can travel with confidence.

General Travel Questions

Do I need any documentation to travel?

It depends on where you're headed. Though it is not a universal requirement, many countries require that your passport be valid for at least six months beyond your arrival date. This ensures Travelers have sufficient time to return home even if their visas are extended or if unexpected circumstances arise. 

Some destinations may also require a visa. Check our visa page to consult your country's travel resources.

Do I need any vaccines?

It's always best to check with your healthcare provider or a travel doctor before your trip. You can also visit the CDC website (or your local government's travel health resource) for destination-specific vaccine guidance. Health and safety first!

Are flights included in the trip cost?

Because our Hosts and Travelers are coming from all around the world, flights to and from your destination are not included. Some trips include internal flights (like a short domestic hop), and those details will always be listed on the trip page if applicable.

Can you accommodate my dietary needs?

We’ll do our very best! Our Operators aim to accommodate dietary restrictions, though availability varies by destination. For example, some places offer plenty of vegan and vegetarian choices, while others might be quite limited. The earlier you let us know—through your trip form or by contacting our support team—the better we can prepare. Once you arrive, be sure to remind your local Guide about any allergies or restrictions so they can help you enjoy your meals safely and comfortably.
