Welcome! Please be prepared to meet in the lobby at 6pm for a welcome meeting before heading to your welcome dinner. The dinner reservation time will be finalized closer to your trip date. If you plan on arriving today, we recommend flying into Zurich Airport (ZRH).

Info

Today you'll hop a train and head into the heart of the Bernese Oberland and the town between two lakes, Interlaken. On arrival you will drop off your luggage and have free time in town to grab lunch at a local cafe before embarking on a private transfer to Lake Brienz where you will start your kayak tour. Whether you're a beginner or experienced kayaker, Lake Brienz's natural beauty creates a perfect setting for a peaceful and memorable experience. For kayaking, please be sure to pack a swimsuit and towel, t-shirt short or long (no cotton, if possible), shorts, sport sandals/water shoes/flip flops or Crocs, sun protection (sunscreen, sunglasses, hat) and a water bottle.

Train Zurich to Interlaken

2 Hours 30 Mins

After breakfast, a 20 minute private transfer will bring you to the train station where you will board a train heading to Interlaken via Bern. There are restrooms and a snack carriage on board. After arriving in Interlaken, you'll drop off your luggage at the hotel and have some free time to get lunch.

Kayaking on Lake Brienz

2 Hours

After you'd had some time to get lunch, you'll rejoin your group and guide at the hotel in Interlaken. From there, you'll take a quick 15 minute transfer to begin your kayaking tour in Bönigen. Upon reaching Bönigen, you'll take in the lake's beauty from an incredible vantage point, kayaking across its turquoise waters while surrounded by a breathtaking mountain panorama. This experience is beginner friendly and has a maximum weight restriction of 265 lbs. Life jackets are included. After kayaking, you'll take a public boat transfer back to Interlaken.

Transfer Bönigen to Interlaken

15 Mins

After your kayak tour, you'll take a shared boat transfer back to Interlaken. Then you will take a 5 minute train ride back to your hotel in Interlaken.

Head into the mountains as you take the train to explore a quintessential Swiss village straight out of a fairytale, Lauterbrunnen. Walking in the valley will get you multiple vantage points of the incredible scenery. After the walk you'll have some time in Lauterbrunnen for lunch and then you will take a short train to Wengen before boarding a cable car to Männlichen, where the Panorama trail starts. Hike the Panorama trail and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Swiss Alps. At the end of the trail, you will take a train back to Interlaken via Lauterbrunnen. Please wear hiking boots and pack your reusable water bottle(s), and bring a rain jacket (to protect you from the waterfall spray), sunglasses, sunscreen, and a day pack. Temperatures near the waterfall can be very cool. Remember to dress in layers.

Harder Kulm Funicular Ride

1 Hour

To start off your day you'll take a 15 minute train ride to the base of the Harder Kulm mountain, then you'll hop on the funicular which will take you to the top of Harder Kulm. Take in the amazing views of Lake Brienz and Lake Thun as well as the peaks of Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. Snap some amazing pictures then head back down the funicular and continue into the mountains by train.

Train from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen

Enjoy this scenic train ride from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen. The train will take you through the picturesque landscapes of the Bernese Oberland region.

Lauterbrunnen Valley Walk

1 Hour

After arriving into Lauterbrunnen, your guide will lead you on a walk through the village and the valley for some spectacular views, including a stop at Staubbach Falls. Walk along the river and cross over then continue back into Lauterbrunnen Village for lunch. In total, you will walk 2-3 miles.

Train from Lauterbrunnen to Wengen

After lunch on your own, hop on a train to Wengen.

Panorama Trail

2 Hours

From Wengen, you'll take cable car to Männlichen to begin the hike. The Panorama Trail from Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg is a stunning alpine hike in the Swiss Alps, offering breathtaking views of iconic peaks like the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. The trail is a gentle, well-marked path that stretches winding through vibrant meadows filled with wildflowers during the summer months. As you hike, you're treated to sweeping vistas of the Lauterbrunnen Valley and the Grindelwald region. Distance: 2.8 miles / Elevation Gain: -500 ft / Duration: 1.5 - 2 hours / Difficulty: Easy

Train Kleine Scheidegg to Interlaken

After your hike, take a train back to Interlaken via Lauterbrunnen and have a free evening at your leisure.

It's another full day in the mountains! Today you will tackle one of the world's great trips to the UNESCO Jungfraujoch. The "Top of Europe" and home to Europe's biggest glaciers, it's a must-do on any adventurer's Swiss trip. After free time for lunch and soaking in the views of the glaciers up top, you'll head down a short way to hike the famous Eiger Trail, then continue for a quick stop in the postcard town of Grindelwald before heading back to Interlaken. Once back in town you will have the remainder of the day on your own. It's important to note that the weather at Jungfraujoch can be unpredictable, so be prepared for varying conditions, including colder temperatures and high-altitude sun exposure. You should pack layers, and make sure to bring hats, gloves, and water, along with sunscreen and sunglasses. Remember to wear comfortable hiking boots or shoes.

Train to Jungfraujoch

2 Hours 30 Mins

After breakfast, you will take a train to Lauterbrunnen and a cogwheel railway will take you to Kleine Scheidegg, a high-altitude pass with stunning views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau mountains. Once there you'll board the Jungfrau Railway which takes you up to the Jungfraujoch. This part of the journey is particularly breathtaking as you ascend into the high mountains. The train passes through a tunnel inside the Eiger mountain and stops at the Jungfraujoch station.

Explore the top of Jungfraujoch

Explore the Top of Europe, Jungfraujoch. As icy air sweeps over your face, snow crunches under your feet, and the panorama take your breath away, you'll know you have arrived at one of the best places in Switzerland and all of Europe. You will have plenty of time to explore the area. The Sphinx Observation deck is a highlight, offering panoramic views of the surrounding Alpine landscape. You can also visit the Ice Palace, which is a tunnel system through the glacier and/or grab a warm drink and eat something to the many cafes and restaurant at Jungfrauj.

Train to Eigergletscher

30 Mins

Join your group and tour leader and board the Jungfrau Railway train which will take you through a tunnel inside the Eiger mountain and bring you to the Eigerwand station.

Hike the Eiger Trail

3 Hours

After the train arrives at the Eiger station you will begin your hike. This trail traverses underneath the famous (and notorious) north face of the Eiger. Unlike the rock face, the trail is safe for casual hikers and allows for mostly easy walking, with a few switchbacks and rocky sections to navigate. Enjoy fantastic views of the Grindelwald valley and surrounding peaks. You will be hiking for 3 hours (3.7 miles total) on mainly gravel road. This hike is considered moderately difficult and you will be hiking downhill.

Train from Alpiglen to Grindelwald

Board a train from Alpiglen to Grindelwald, a scenic route in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland, providing stunning views of the Alps.

Visit Grindelwald

Grindelwald is a charming Swiss mountain village located in the Bernese Oberland region. Take some photos in the beautiful town of Grindelwald before heading down to Interlaken.

Train from Grindelwald to Interlaken

1 Hour

Continue your journey back to Interlaken with a train from Grindelwald. During your journey, you'll have the opportunity to see stunning vistas, including the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau mountains. The train will pass through lovely valleys and charming Swiss villages. After arriving back in Interlaken you will have the remainder of the day on your own.

It's your last morning in the mountains. After breakfast, you will take a train to Grindelwald and stop to purchase your lunch (at your own expense), which you will enjoy on your hike today, before taking the cable car to First. From First, you will begin your last hike of your Bernese Oberland experience, embarking on a stunning alpine hike, leading you through breathtaking landscapes to the serene Bachalpsee Lake, and down to Waldspitz and Bort. You'll stop at Bachalpsee lake for lunch before continuing the second half of the hike. Along the way, you’ll encounter vibrant wildflowers set against panoramic views of snowy peaks and lush valleys. In the late afternoon you'll take the train back to Zurich. After freshening up, head out on the town and enjoy a farewell dinner with your group to toast the epic mountain memories from your week in Switzerland. You should wear hiking boots, and bring a day pack with extra layers, water, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat.

Train Interlaken to Grindelwad and Cable Car to First

You will rise early this morning to enjoy your last day in the Bernese Oberland. After leaving your luggage at the reception, you will board a train from Interlaken Ost to Grindelwald (via Interlaken West). After the train arrives at the Grindelwald station you will stop at a local supermarket to purchase your lunch (at your own expense) which you will take on your hike. Then you will walk 10 minutes to the cable car station to take the cable car up to First.

Flower Trail Grindelwald First to Bort via Bachalpsee Lake

3 Hours 30 Mins

From First, you will start the picturesque Flower Trail hike. The hike typically takes 3 to 4 hours to complete, reaching its highest point at Bachalpsee lake, situated at 2,265 meters (7,431 feet). You'll stop here for a picnic lunch at the lake before continuing onwards through Waldspitz, and then descending to Bort. From Bort, you will take the cable car down to Grindelwald. Along the way, you will be treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and alpine meadows, with the trail featuring a gentle to moderate gradient. Distance: 6.2 miles / Elevation Gain: 656 feet / Duration: 3-4 hours / Difficulty: Moderate.

Train to Zurich via Interlaken

3 Hours 30 Mins

After your hike, take the train from Grindelwald back to Interlaken and enjoy the views of the Bernese Oberland one last time. When you arrive in Interlaken, you'll have time to pick up your luggage at the hotel before heading to Zurich. With your group and tour leader board the train heading to Zurich, for 2.5 hours. This train journey will provide you with scenic views of the Swiss countryside and the transition from the mountains to the plains. There are restrooms and a snack carriage on board. You should arrive in Zurich around in the evening.

Every trip has a physical Activity Level from 1 to 5 so you can find the right fit for your travel style:

  • Level 1 – Relax + Unwind: Minimal movement (spa days, beach lounging, local markets)
  • Level 2 – Low-Key Movement: Light, easy-paced activity (snorkeling, boat tours, gentle hikes)
  • Level 3 – Moderate Activity: Ready to move (multi-day hikes, skiing, camping)
  • Level 4 – Get Your Heart Rate Up: More intense movement (long hikes, biking, active days)

What does "or similar" mean next to the accommodations?

When we say “or similar,” it means the hotel listed is an example of what you can expect—not always the exact spot you'll be staying. Sometimes Operators adjust accommodations due to seasonal availability or group size. But rest assured: the quality and comfort will match what's shown.

Why would the accommodations change from time of booking?

Flexibility allows Operators to choose the best-fit accommodations closer to your trip—based on availability, logistics, and what works best for the group (like the number of Travelers and room configurations). This ensures a smooth experience without sacrificing comfort or quality.

Finalized hotel info is typically shared about 30 days before departure in your Traveler Portal, along with your final itinerary.

Who actually runs my trip, and how does Trova keep things safe?

Your trip is operated by licensed, certified Tour Operators who manage all trip logistics and safety—from accommodations and local Guides and day-to-day logistics. All trips comply with local legal and regulatory standards. We vet each Operating partner carefully so you can travel with confidence.

General Travel Questions

Do I need any documentation to travel?

It depends on where you're headed. Though it is not a universal requirement, many countries require that your passport be valid for at least six months beyond your arrival date. This ensures Travelers have sufficient time to return home even if their visas are extended or if unexpected circumstances arise. 

Some destinations may also require a visa. Check our visa page to consult your country's travel resources.

Do I need any vaccines?

It's always best to check with your healthcare provider or a travel doctor before your trip. You can also visit the CDC website (or your local government's travel health resource) for destination-specific vaccine guidance. Health and safety first!

Are flights included in the trip cost?

Because our Hosts and Travelers are coming from all around the world, flights to and from your destination are not included. Some trips include internal flights (like a short domestic hop), and those details will always be listed on the trip page if applicable.

Can you accommodate my dietary needs?

We’ll do our very best! Our Operators aim to accommodate dietary restrictions, though availability varies by destination. For example, some places offer plenty of vegan and vegetarian choices, while others might be quite limited. The earlier you let us know—through your trip form or by contacting our support team—the better we can prepare. Once you arrive, be sure to remind your local Guide about any allergies or restrictions so they can help you enjoy your meals safely and comfortably.
