Opening Sacred Space- The Journey Begins

Informal Gathering
After settling into Iceland’s unique energy, we begin our spiritual journey with a ceremony to formally open sacred space for the days ahead. This morning, we’ll gather. As we form our ceremonial circle, you’ll learn to sense the distinct vibration of Icelandic soil beneath your feet and the crystalline quality of the arctic air around us. Through traditional invocations passed down through generations, we’ll call upon the four directions, honoring the spirits of this land and requesting permission to walk as guests upon these sacred grounds. This opening ceremony serves as both invitation and protection, creating an energetic container for our journey ahead. We’ll establish our intention to move through Iceland with reverence, openness, and deep respect for the ancient wisdom held within its volcanic peaks, glacier-carved valleys, and windswept shores. The ritual will include energetic offerings to the land spirits—a practice our Norse ancestors understood as essential before embarking on any significant journey. As we close this sacred opening, you’ll carry within you a heightened awareness of the living energy that flows through every stone, stream, and shadow we’ll encounter in the days to come. From this foundation of spiritual connection, we’ll be prepared to receive the deeper teachings Iceland has waiting for us.

Guided Meditation: Earth and Cosmos Communion

Informal Gathering
As we make our way through Icelandic otherworldly landscape, we will pause to connect to the earth and the cosmos through guided mediation by Lindsey. . Wrapped in warm layers against the crisp air, we begin by feeling our connection to this primordial landscape. With eyes closed, you’ll first attune to the solid presence of volcanic rock beneath you—stone born from the earth’s molten core, now cooled into permanent witness to the planet’s creative power. Feeling how this Icelandic ground holds a different quality than any other earth you’ve touched, charged with the raw elemental forces that continue to shape this living island. . As we deepen into meditation, your awareness will expand to embrace the vast cosmos stretching overhead. Iceland’s remote location and clear atmosphere create an unobstructed gateway to the star-filled sky, where the same cosmic forces that guide migrating birds and ocean tides flow through your own being. . We’ll practice sensing ourselves as conscious bridges between earth and sky, grounded in ancient stone yet connected to infinite space. . The meditation will guide you through layers of connection—from the magnetic pull of Iceland’s unique geological formations, up through your heart center, and out to the aurora-painted heavens above. In this state of expanded awareness, many participants experience profound insights about their place in the greater web of existence, often receiving guidance or visions that illuminate their personal journey. . As we emerge from the meditation, the Northern Lights may grace us with their presence, confirming the sacred dialogue between earth and cosmos that we’ve just experienced within ourselves.

Ancient Wisdom of the Runes

Informal Gathering
In the heart of Iceland’s mystical landscape, we will gather. Surrounded by the same elemental forces that inspired the Norse understanding of cosmic order, we’ll explore the profound wisdom encoded within the ancient symbols of Runes. . The runes are far more than an alphabet—they are keys to understanding the fundamental energies that govern both the seen and unseen worlds. Each symbol carries within it the essence of natural forces our Viking forebears observed in their harsh yet magnificent northern environment. As we sit together in this powerful landscape, you’ll learn how to harness the power of these runes with your voice. We’ll begin by feeling the energy of individual runes, holding smooth stones carved with these ancient symbols while attuning to their unique vibrations. Fehu speaks of abundance and the flow of life force, much like the geothermal springs bubbling around us. Isa embodies the stillness and clarity of ice, teaching patience and inner reflection. Thurisaz carries the protective power of the giants, the raw elemental forces that shaped these very mountains. . Through guided meditation and hands-on practice, you’ll discover how to cast the runes for guidance, not as fortune-telling, but as a way to commune with the wisdom of your ancestors and the natural world. Each participant will be gifted their own set of runes from Lindsey. You will be infusing them with intention and the powerful earth energies of this sacred land. . As the session concludes, we’ll perform a blessing ceremony over our rune sets, asking the ancient spirits of this place to awaken the oracular wisdom that lies dormant within these timeless symbols.

Guided Meditation: Communion with the Norse Pantheon

Informal Gathering
As we journey deeper into Iceland’s mythic landscape, we pause at a site where the boundaries between worlds feel especially thin—perhaps atop a windswept plateau where glacial valleys stretch toward distant peaks, or beside a thundering waterfall where the earth’s power is made audible. Here, where our Viking ancestors once felt the presence of their gods most keenly, we’ll enter into communion with the Norse pantheon through guided meditation. . Settling into comfortable positions, we begin by calling upon the protective presence of Thor, whose hammer Mjolnir was said to create thunder in these very skies. Feel his strength surrounding our circle as we prepare to journey into the realm of the gods. The meditation will guide you through Yggdrasil, the World Tree, whose roots and branches connect all nine realms of Norse cosmology—a sacred geography that mirrors the elemental forces visible all around us in Iceland’s dramatic terrain. . You may find yourself in the presence of wise Odin, the All-Father who sacrificed his eye for knowledge and hung himself from the World Tree to receive the runes. Or perhaps fierce Freyja will appear, goddess of love and war, teaching about the sacred balance between creation and destruction that defines this volcanic land. The sea god Njörðr might speak to those called to understand the ocean’s mysteries, while Frigg offers maternal wisdom about the interconnectedness of all life. . Each participant’s experience will be unique, as the gods and goddesses choose how to reveal themselves. Some may receive visions or messages, others will simply feel the profound presence of these archetypal energies that our ancestors knew as living forces within nature itself. The meditation creates space for personal dialogue with whichever divine aspects resonate most deeply with your soul’s journey. . As we return to ordinary awareness, we’ll share our experiences in sacred witnessing, honoring the wisdom received and the timeless connection between human consciousness and the divine forces that continue to animate this magnificent land.

Closing Sacred Space: Gratitude & Release

Informal Gathering
As our transformative journey through Iceland’s sacred landscapes draws to a close, we gather one final time. The wind carries the salt spray of northern waters as we form our circle, hearts full of the profound experiences and deep connections we’ve forged with this mystical land. . This closing ceremony honors the reciprocal relationship between ourselves and the spirits of place who have guided and protected us throughout our pilgrimage. We begin by acknowledging each direction we’ve honored, offering heartfelt gratitude to the elemental guardians who opened doorways of wisdom for us. To the East, we thank the spirits of new beginnings who blessed our morning ceremonies. To the South, we honor the fire energies that revealed themselves in geysers and volcanic vents. To the West, we acknowledge the water spirits of hot springs and cascading falls that purified and renewed us. To the North, we thank the ancient earth powers that grounded our deepest meditations. . Each participant will offer personal gratitude to the land, perhaps placing a biodegradable offering of flowers or herbs at the water’s edge, or simply speaking words of appreciation into the wind. We’ll acknowledge the Norse gods and goddesses who revealed themselves during our journey, the ancestral spirits who walked with us, and the living essence of Iceland itself that opened its heart to us as honored guests. . The ceremony concludes with a formal release of the sacred space we’ve held together, ensuring that the energies we’ve worked with return to their natural flow while the wisdom we’ve received remains integrated within us. As we speak our final words of gratitude, many feel a profound sense of completion—not an ending, but a transformation that will continue to unfold long after we’ve returned home, carrying Iceland’s ancient magic within our hearts forever.

This morning you will be privately transferred 30 minutes to Seljalandsfoss Waterfall. A short hike will take you to the magnificent falls, also one of the most popular sites in Iceland. The waves are dangerous so there will be no swimming but you will be able to walk up and down the beach taking in the scenery. As it will be windier on the coast, please be sure to bring layers to bundle up for this experience. From here you will be transferred into town for lunch on your own.

Laki Lava Fields Drive

20 Mins

After lunch you will be transferred 55 minutes to the lava fields. The Lakagigar are a series of craters that were formed by one of the largest volcanic events in recorded history. Lava and ash from the eruption of 1783 created a lava field almost 16 miles across, which you’ll explore by vehicle.

1 Hour

After leaving the lava field you will be transferred 55 minutes to Skaftafell National Park. A fairly easy hike will take you to Vatnajokull Glacier, the largest glacier in Europe, which covers a whopping 8% of Iceland’s landmass. As you continue, you will encounter some of the country’s most striking scenery including glacier lagoons and Reynisdrangar, basalt sea stacks at the base of Reynisfjall mountain. Guided Meditation: Communion with the Norse Pantheon

As we journey deeper into Iceland’s mythic landscape, we pause at a site where the boundaries between worlds feel especially thin—perhaps atop a windswept plateau where glacial valleys stretch toward distant peaks, or beside a thundering waterfall where the earth’s power is made audible.

FAQ

Traveling with TrovaTrip

What's it like to travel on a Trova Trip?

Trova Trips are curated group travel experiences designed to help you see the world, meet new people, and connect over shared interests. Each trip is hosted by a community leader you know and trust, and run by professional local Operators who handle the logistics. Expect meaningful experiences, authentic activities, and a like-minded group to share it all with.

What's the difference between the Host, the Operator, and Trova?

Great question! Each plays a key role in bringing your experience to life:

  • The Host is your community leader who brings the group together, fosters connection, and perhaps leads a workshop or two. They're there to bring the vibes, not the logistics. That's the Tour Operator's job.
  • The Operator is the professional travel company that runs the trip on the ground. They handle it all—accommodations, local Guides, activities, and safety. Every Operator we partner with is licensed, insured, and vetted to deliver high-quality group travel.
  • TrovaTrip is the platform who connects it all. We help design the trips, partner with Hosts with Operators, and support you before and during your journey to ensure everything runs smoothly.

In short: The Host brings the vibe, the Operator runs the trip, and we make it all happen. Read more about who does what here.

I'm nervous to book. How can I feel more confident?

First, let us say—it's totally understandable, and you're not alone! Travel can feel intimidating, but we built Trova to take the guesswork out of group travel and earn your trust every step of the way:

    • Every trip is run by licensed Tour Operators with vetted local Guides.
    • Hosts are there to foster connection, meaning you'll arrive solo but never feel alone.
    • Itineraries are clearly outlined so you know what to expect, including activity level, example accommodations, and what's included.
    • Our team is available to support you pre-departure, and Operators—plus your local Guide—are on the ground to assist during the trip. And rest assured, all our Operating partners are trained in crisis management.
    • We always recommend travel insurance for extra peace of mind, whether you're traveling with Trova or solo. It can cover medical issues, lost luggage, or even cancellations.

We know it takes trust to book a trip with new people, and we're here to make sure you feel ready, supported, and excited!”

Can I book solo?

Absolutely! As of 2025, almost 84% of TrovaTrip Travelers go solo. (And yes, we may be a little biased, but we think group travel is one of the best ways to meet new people!) You'll have your own bed and the option to book a private room on most trips. Plus you'll be traveling with others who are just as excited to explore and connect.

What if I need to cancel?

What's included in the trip cost?

Most trips include accommodations, daily activities, ground transportation, some meals, and a dedicated local Guide. Because Travelers are coming from all around the world, flights to and from your destination are not included. Each trip page breaks it all down for you.

Will I have free time?

Yes! While we pack in incredible experiences, most itineraries include built-in free time so you can relax, wander, or check out personal must-sees.

What do the activity levels mean?

Every trip has a physical Activity Level from 1 to 5 so you can find the right fit for your travel style:

  • Level 1 – Relax + Unwind: Minimal movement (spa days, beach lounging, local markets)
  • Level 2 – Low-Key Movement: Light, easy-paced activity (snorkeling, boat tours, gentle hikes)
  • Level 3 – Moderate Activity: Ready to move (multi-day hikes, skiing, camping)
  • Level 4 – Get Your Heart Rate Up: More intense movement (long hikes, biking, active days)
  • Level 5 – Extreme Adventure: High-adrenaline travel (challenging hikes, dives, technical climbs – experience may be required)

You'll find the Activity Level clearly listed on each trip page, and a more in-depth explanation of each level here.

Who can I contact with more questions?

Our support team is here to help! Visit trovatrip.com/company/contact-us to reach out. You can expect to hear back within 2 business days, but probably sooner—our Trova elves are pretty speedy!

Accommodations

What does "or similar" mean next to the accommodations?

When we say “or similar,” it means the hotel listed is an example of what you can expect—not always the exact spot you'll be staying. Sometimes Operators adjust accommodations due to seasonal availability or group size. But rest assured: the quality and comfort will match what's shown.

Why would the accommodations change from time of booking?

Flexibility allows Operators to choose the best-fit accommodations closer to your trip—based on availability, logistics, and what works best for the group (like the number of Travelers and room configurations). This ensures a smooth experience without sacrificing comfort or quality.

Finalized hotel info is typically shared about 30 days before departure in your Traveler Portal, along with your final itinerary.

Trip Operations & Compliance

Who actually runs my trip, and how does Trova keep things safe?

Your trip is operated by licensed, certified Tour Operators who manage all trip logistics and safety—from accommodations and local Guides and day-to-day logistics. All trips comply with local legal and regulatory standards. We vet each Operating partner carefully so you can travel with confidence.

Who do I talk to if I have questions about safety or compliance?

If you have any questions about safety protocols or trip compliance, reach out to us at safety@trovatrip.com. We're here to help.

General Travel Questions

Do I need any documentation to travel?

It depends on where you're headed. Though it is not a universal requirement, many countries require that your passport be valid for at least six months beyond your arrival date. This ensures Travelers have sufficient time to return home even if their visas are extended or if unexpected circumstances arise.

Some destinations may also require a visa. Check our visa page to consult your country's travel resources.

Do I need any vaccines?

It's always best to check with your healthcare provider or a travel doctor before your trip. You can also visit the CDC website (or your local government's travel health resource) for destination-specific vaccine guidance. Health and safety first!

Are flights included in the trip cost?

Because our Hosts and Travelers are coming from all around the world, flights to and from your destination are not included. Some trips include internal flights (like a short domestic hop), and those details will always be listed on the trip page if applicable.

Can you accommodate my dietary needs?

We’ll do our very best! Our Operators aim to accommodate dietary restrictions, though availability varies by destination. For example, some places offer plenty of vegan and vegetarian choices, while others might be quite limited. The earlier you let us know—through your trip form or by contacting our support team—the better we can prepare. Once you arrive, be sure to remind your local Guide about any allergies or restrictions so they can help you enjoy your meals safely and comfortably.
