For your first full day in Thailand, you’ll take a transfer in the morning out to Khlong Lat Mayom Floating Market where you will experience interacting with market vendors on the canal. Then you’ll take a transfer to lunch nearby before heading back to the hotel. Then around late afternoon, you’ll take a transfer to the meeting point to get on a tuk tuk for a Bangkok street eats tour. For today’s activities, you’ll want to bring extra cash with you to buy any additional food or beverages at the markets.

Indulge in a unique dining experience as these "floating kitchens" anchor beside your waterside table, offering a diverse array of dishes, including the renowned "boat noodles" and pla pao (salt-crusted fish). Bangkok Street Eats by Tuk-Tuk

In the late afternoon, you’ll be picked up for a 40 minute transfer to the meeting point to start your Bangkok Street Eats adventure. You’ll get on a tuk tuk and make about 5 stops along the way. You’ll stop by The Giant Swing, Bangkok City Pillar Shrine, the flower market, a rooftop bar, and at the local market you will try a variety of street food like Thai-style grilled meat, khao kha mu (stewed pork leg), coconut pudding, abd Bua Loi Khai Waan (glutinous rice balls with egg). Then you’ll take a 40 minute transfer back to the hotel after a fun evening out.

This morning, you’ll take a transfer out to Patom’s Farm for a hands-on organic farming experience. Then you’ll head to the farm’s kitchen for a cooking class using some of the vegetables and herbs from right there on the farm. After lunch you’ll transfer back to the hotel to relax and freshen up before transferring to dinner.

Patom’s Organic Farm Experience and Cooking Class

The rural province of Nakhon Pathom is home to Patom’s Organic Farm, an eco-cultural project on the banks of the Tha Chin River. Upon reaching the farm, you'll head on a guided tour and engage in a workshop that provides hands-on exposure to various organic farming techniques, covering aspects such as soil preparation, seedling management, planting methods, composting, and fertilization. You’ll then gather raw ingredients straight from the source and bring them into the kitchen, where you’ll take a cooking class, learning how to prepare a traditional Thai meal. Everyone will get to participate in various steps in making the meal. Examples of dishes you will be making are acacia omlette (Senegalia pennata), somtam, pad gaprao (stir fried with basil), stir-fried morning glory. Note that dishes will change depending on the season. Note: Patom Farm closed on Monday.

Today, you’ll transfer to the Ayutthaya ruins, featuring impressive temple complexes, statues, and historical structures that offer a glimpse into the city's rich history and cultural significance. Then you’ll take a quick transfer to the nearby food market to explore and try out some local snacks. You’ll have time to explore the area before transferring to the train station to board your overnight train to Chiang Mai. When visiting the ruins and temples today, you’ll need to wear conservative clothing that covers the shoulders and knees, shoes that cover the toes. Note that you will want to pack up all your suitcases as you will be checking out of the hotel in the morning as well as a separate small bag to have accessible to you on the train (luggage will be stored elsewhere).

Then take a 10 minute transfer to the local market. A songthaew is a widely used mode of transportation, particularly in Thailand, consisting of a modified pickup truck or van with bench seating, often brightly decorated, and serving as both shared taxis and bus-like services. You’ll be making stops at Tha Pae Gate, Wat Puak Tam community, Wat Chiang Man and Waroros Market. Then you’ll head to Chuan Chom for lunch, which is a unique experience because food will be prepared and served by female inmates who are taking part in a program designed to provide opportunities that will help them reintegrate back into society after their release.

In the late afternoon, you take a 30 minute private transfer and venture to the Hang Dong district of Chiang Mai, where you'll discover the enchanting village of Bandoo, home to a splendid 150-year-old teak house owned by the Ruankaew-Yanon family—a significant influence in shaping the local Lanna community. Immerse yourself in the rich history of the house and its surroundings, gaining insight into a lifestyle that closely mirrors that of their ancestors. What does "or similar" mean next to the accommodations?

When we say “or similar,” it means the hotel listed is an example of what you can expect—not always the exact spot you'll be staying. Sometimes Operators adjust accommodations due to seasonal availability or group size. But rest assured: the quality and comfort will match what's shown.

Why would the accommodations change from time of booking?

Flexibility allows Operators to choose the best-fit accommodations closer to your trip—based on availability, logistics, and what works best for the group (like the number of Travelers and room configurations). This ensures a smooth experience without sacrificing comfort or quality.

Finalized hotel info is typically shared about 30 days before departure in your Traveler Portal, along with your final itinerary.

Who actually runs my trip, and how does Trova keep things safe?

Your trip is operated by licensed, certified Tour Operators who manage all trip logistics and safety—from accommodations and local Guides and day-to-day logistics. All trips comply with local legal and regulatory standards. We vet each Operating partner carefully so you can travel with confidence.

General Travel Questions

Do I need any documentation to travel?

It depends on where you're headed. Though it is not a universal requirement, many countries require that your passport be valid for at least six months beyond your arrival date. This ensures Travelers have sufficient time to return home even if their visas are extended or if unexpected circumstances arise. 

Some destinations may also require a visa. Check our visa page to consult your country's travel resources.

Do I need any vaccines?

It's always best to check with your healthcare provider or a travel doctor before your trip. You can also visit the CDC website (or your local government's travel health resource) for destination-specific vaccine guidance. Health and safety first!

Are flights included in the trip cost?

Because our Hosts and Travelers are coming from all around the world, flights to and from your destination are not included. Some trips include internal flights (like a short domestic hop), and those details will always be listed on the trip page if applicable.

Can you accommodate my dietary needs?

We’ll do our very best! Our Operators aim to accommodate dietary restrictions, though availability varies by destination. For example, some places offer plenty of vegan and vegetarian choices, while others might be quite limited. The earlier you let us know—through your trip form or by contacting our support team—the better we can prepare. Once you arrive, be sure to remind your local Guide about any allergies or restrictions so they can help you enjoy your meals safely and comfortably.
