Hey Y’all, I am Marisa LaRen. Artist, athlete, cowgirl, entrepreneur and adventurer. I am also on the board of a non-profit that helps female survivors of abuse gain a skillset to provide them opportunities to work in the western industry. As a survivor of abuse this holds a special place in my heart. I am mostly a solo traveler but now want to share my adventures and experiences with others. My mission is to share and help others realize their potential and get out of their comfort zones by trying new things and having new experiences. Helping people become more independent and capable through travel and taking risks. I crave edges and excitement and I can’t wait to explore more of this beautiful world with some of you!

In the morning you will embark on a cycle tour of rural Thailand with the Lanna Countryside and Ancient Ruins Cycle tour. In the evening your Guide will take you to a Night Market Street Eats Tour.

Lanna Countryside and Ancient Ruins Cycle

8:00 A.M.: You will travel to the outskirts of Chiang Mai and cycle through rural villages, rice fields and farms, observing some of the Northern Thai agricultural life. From hotel to Wiang Kum Kam is approx 7.3KM and 15 mins drive. Distance: 6 hours, includes stops. Difficulty level: easy, Distance: 2.5 km, flat terrain.

12:30 P.M.: Lunch at a local restaurant is included. Thai farm house, for a traditional lunch of “khao soi”, a spicy curry noodle soup considered a specialty of northern Thailand. From 2:00 P.M. transfer back to hotel, it's approx 1.2KM and 5 mins drive.

Night Market Street Eats Tour

1 Hour

5:00 P.M.: In the early evening, you will head out to Chiang Mai’s South Gate and begin a Night Street Eats Tour to sample some of Chiang Mai’s legendary street food. You’ll visit street vendors, family owned local restaurants and experience the Chiang Mai market scene. Distance from hotel is approx 2.2 KM and 7 mins drive. (~5 hours)

9:00 A.M.: Lace up your hiking boots, this morning your Northern Thai adventure will take you on a hike through the mountain villages of Chiang Dao. Along with the staggering beauty of the mountainous jungle, you will embark on a cultural experience as you hike through the hill villages of the Karen and Lisu tribes. (~4 hours)

Bua Tong Waterfall Climb

1 Hour

1:00 P.M.: The hike continues onto Bua Tong Waterfall which translates to ‘Sticky Waterfall.’ Made of limestone and mineral deposits, the source of the waterfall is a calcium-rich spring that feeds into the rocks below. Over time, the deposits have given the rocks a grippy texture. From the base of the waterfall, you will be able to climb up the 3 tiers to the top.

Transfer to Chiang Mai

4:00 P.M.: Transfer back to your hotel in Chiang Mai. (~1 hour)

Info

On your way to Pai from Chiang Mai, you will visit the Elephant Nature Park. This elephant rescue and rehabilitation sanctuary is dedicated to the conservation of these majestic creatures. Upon arrival in Pai, you will embark on a walking tour of the night market.

Elephant Nature Park Observation

8:00 A.M.: The Elephant Nature Park is an ethical sanctuary for elephants that have been rescued or orphaned. The animals are left free to roam and your visit to the park helps the preservation of Thai wildlife and nature. From hotel is approx 60KM and 1 hour 20 mins drive. (~4 hours)

12:00 P.M.: Enjoy an included lunch at a vegetarian buffet at the Elephant Nature Park.

Transfer to Pai

This morning you will travel to Soppong for a whitewater rafting adventure. Return to Pai in the afternoon for some leisure time to relax.

Whitewater Rafting at Soppong

9:30 A.M.: The rafting adventure journeys through 28 miles of untouched jungle and winds its way through a wildlife sanctuary. The surrounding lush tropical forests are filled with 300+ bird species, and an abundance of animals such as the white-handed gibbon. The Class 4 rapids will take you past some beautiful scenery, pristine waterfalls and hidden caves and you’ll have an opportunity to catch your breath when you take a dip in a hot spring along the way. (~9 hours)

What's included in the trip cost?

What do the activity levels mean?

Every trip has a physical Activity Level from 1 to 5 so you can find the right fit for your travel style:

  • Level 1 – Relax + Unwind: Minimal movement (spa days, beach lounging, local markets)
  • Level 2 – Low-Key Movement: Light, easy-paced activity (snorkeling, boat tours, gentle hikes)
  • Level 3 – Moderate Activity: Ready to move (multi-day hikes, skiing, camping)
  • Level 4 – Get Your Heart Rate Up: More intense movement (long hikes, biking, active days)
  • Level 5 – Extreme Adventure: High-adrenaline travel (challenging hikes, dives, technical climbs – experience may be required)

What does "or similar" mean next to the accommodations?

When we say “or similar,” it means the hotel listed is an example of what you can expect—not always the exact spot you'll be staying. Sometimes Operators adjust accommodations due to seasonal availability or group size. But rest assured: the quality and comfort will match what's shown.

Why would the accommodations change from time of booking?

Flexibility allows Operators to choose the best-fit accommodations closer to your trip—based on availability, logistics, and what works best for the group (like the number of Travelers and room configurations). This ensures a smooth experience without sacrificing comfort or quality.

Finalized hotel info is typically shared about 30 days before departure in your Traveler Portal, along with your final itinerary.

Trip Operations & Compliance

Who actually runs my trip, and how does Trova keep things safe?

Your trip is operated by licensed, certified Tour Operators who manage all trip logistics and safety—from accommodations and local Guides and day-to-day logistics. All trips comply with local legal and regulatory standards. We vet each Operating partner carefully so you can travel with confidence.

General Travel Questions

Do I need any documentation to travel?

It depends on where you're headed. Though it is not a universal requirement, many countries require that your passport be valid for at least six months beyond your arrival date. This ensures Travelers have sufficient time to return home even if their visas are extended or if unexpected circumstances arise. 

Some destinations may also require a visa. Check our visa page to consult your country's travel resources.

Do I need any vaccines?

It's always best to check with your healthcare provider or a travel doctor before your trip. You can also visit the CDC website (or your local government's travel health resource) for destination-specific vaccine guidance. Health and safety first!

Are flights included in the trip cost?

Because our Hosts and Travelers are coming from all around the world, flights to and from your destination are not included. Some trips include internal flights (like a short domestic hop), and those details will always be listed on the trip page if applicable.

Can you accommodate my dietary needs?

We’ll do our very best! Our Operators aim to accommodate dietary restrictions, though availability varies by destination. For example, some places offer plenty of vegan and vegetarian choices, while others might be quite limited. The earlier you let us know—through your trip form or by contacting our support team—the better we can prepare. Once you arrive, be sure to remind your local Guide about any allergies or restrictions so they can help you enjoy your meals safely and comfortably.
