You won’t be alone as you will be accompanied by the tuxedo-wearing, waddle walking, local African Penguins. On your paddle, you may also see seals and perhaps even a dolphin or two.

The journey continues as you will explore the rugged coastline of the Cape Peninsula. You’ll first stop at the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. The nature reserve boasts a scenic terrain that is home to zebras, baboons, elands, ostriches, along with over 250 different species of birds. Today you will wave goodbye to Cape Town and say hello to the open road as you begin your epic road trip through the Garden Route.

You’ll ride through stunning landscapes and scenery through the Western Cape, passing by the stunning Sir Lowry’s Pass and into the Elgin Valley.

Once you arrive, you will head to the mountainous region of Hottentots Holland Nature Reserve where you’ll join a canopy zipline tour. On the zipline, you will fly through the valley, zipping past waterfalls, high above the treeline.

In the afternoon, it’s time for some beach vibes as you’ll head to the coastal town of Hermanus where you have the rest of the day to chill.

Overnight in Hermanus

Included: Breakfast, Cape Canopy Zip-line Tour

Day 4

The morning is at leisure to relax on Hermanus’ beaches. But if you are feeling adventurous, there will be an optional activity offered where you can go shark cage diving.

On this experience, you will meet one of nature’s most feared predators, the great white shark. Whether you are an adrenaline junkie or not, shark cage diving can be done by all without any diving certifications necessary.

In the afternoon, your road trip continues and you will ride to Albertinia where you will arrive at a game lodge. After check-in, you will embark on a guided open vehicle safari in search of the Big 5: lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, and the African buffalo. Along with the wildlife, the nature reserve is a stunning piece of nature, tranquil and lovely for a sunset.

Upon return to the lodge, dinner will be prepared along with a campfire for you and your travel buddies to gather around.

Day 5

It’s an early start and the call of the wild beckons! Some of the best times to view wildlife is early in the hours and your safari will head out in search of the big 5 this morning. After possibly spotting a giraffe or two, you will head back to the game lodge around 9 am for breakfast before hitting the road again.

After bidding a fond farewell to the elephants and lions, you will head for the stunning shores of Plettenberg Bay. Known locally as ‘Plett,’ the beaches are white sand and crystal blue waters surrounded by lush indigenous forests and mountains as the backdrop.

In the afternoon, you’ll onboard a riverboat and cruise down the Keurbooms River located in the nature reserve. As you float down the gorge, you’ll be able to hop on a stand-up paddleboard and make your way downstream.

Along the way, you will lace up your hiking boots and head for a morning hike in Robberg Nature Reserve. It’s a leisurely 2 mile hike but with some dramatic views of sea cliffs and sandy beaches.

After the hike, you will head to Oudtshoorn where you’ll visit the Cango Caves. Surrounded by stalactites and stalagmites, you will weave and crawl through narrow passages and exciting tunnels.

In the afternoon you’ll arrive in the Oudtshoorn, home of the ostrich, and glimpse the rural side of South Africa.

Day 8

This morning you will make your way back to Cape Town along the picturesque Route 62.

If you feel like getting up extra early this morning, there will be an optional Meerkat Sunrise Safari organized. This unique wildlife experience will have you in the bush at sunrise, coffee in hand, as curious meerkats emerge from their burrows to warm up to the morning sun.

Like the ‘Route 66’ of South Africa, Route 62 weaves through country roads that bridge the gap between the stunning mountain range, rural South Africa, and metropolitan Cape Town.

Along with stunning landscapes and incredible wildlife, South Africa also boasts world-class wines. Enroute back to Cape Town, you will stop at Robertson’s Wine Valley for a tasting.

Upon arrival in Cape Town, you will have time to relax a bit and do any last-minute shopping. After freshening up a bit, you will head into Cape Town for a farewell dinner where you’ll toast to an extraordinary adventure.
