Rome: The history and culture of Rome practically speaks for itself, but in case you’ve been living under a rock for the past three thousand years, Rome is the capital of Italy, a place that has served as the center of many of humanity’s greatest achievements. Ancient ruins like the Colosseum and the Roman Forum can be found throughout the city which cast a romantic view on the millennia of history and civilizations that have called Rome home, and the beautiful basilicas and museums of the Vatican--including the world-famous Sistine Chapel--hold some incredible art and history as well.

Florence: In the 15th century, the city of Florence is where the Italian Renaissance started and grew from thanks to the famous Medici family, and today it is still alight with some of the most beautiful and famous art in history. From gorgeous architecture, statues, and fountains which can be seen a walk down the street, to the incredible galleries containing works by Michelangelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, Donatello (the real ones, not the Ninja Turtles!), and more, Florence is a city that will wow even the most casual appreciators of art.

Cinque Terre: This incredibly beautiful string of five small villages, each located at the cliff’s edge bordering the Ligurian Sea, is one of the most stunning parts of Italy. Colorful houses are built right into the cliffside, and you’ll gasp as you watch daredevils leap from the rocks into the glittering turquoise waters. Enjoy beaches, history, and amazing food in this stunning setting.

Welcome to Rome, an ancient city with nearly three millennia of history, art, and culture just waiting to be explored. When you step off the plane, you will be met by one of our guides, who will collect the group and take you all in a private coach to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you will have the opportunity to get settled, have some lunch, meet the other members of your group, and even do a bit of exploring in the area on your own before dinner. When you meet back up for your evening meal, you will be treated to some authentic and delicious Italian food and wine before returning to the hotel for a good night’s rest.

Arrival: Fly into Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport (FCO).

Airport Transfer: The included airport transfer will make 3 pickups from FCO airport on September 4th at 11am, 2pm and 6pm.

Included: Airport Transfer, Welcome Dinner

The Roman Colosseum, built in the first century AD, is perhaps the most iconic landmark in Rome. The history of the Colosseum is bloody and fascinating, and you’ll have the opportunity to get up close and personal with this massive structure on your tour. After a morning breakfast in your hotel, your local guide will take you by coach to the Colosseum where you take a private tour amongst the vast interior of this famous amphitheater and learn about its history and some of the fights, executions, and other events that took place here. After exploring the Colosseum’s history, you will pass to the nearby Palatine Hill, one of the Seven Hills of Rome, where Emperor Augustus kept his seat of power. You will see the Circus Maximus, the Arches of Constantine, the Arch of Titus, and the Roman Forum, which throughout history has served as the center of Roman public life.

The tours will last about 3 hours, but after they are done you will have the opportunity to explore Rome on your own for the afternoon. Visit the Trevi Fountain and toss a coin over your left shoulder with your right hand to ensure your return to Rome someday, or climb the famous Spanish steps to reach the Trinità dei Monti church. Enjoy dinner on your own and return to the hotel at your leisure, whether that means an early lie-in or a fun evening spent enjoying Rome’s vibrant nightlife.

Included: Breakfast, Colosseum Tour

On Day 3, you’ll have the opportunity to create your own agenda. After breakfast in the hotel, step out into the streets of Rome and see its beauty on your own. Visit Vatican City to see the awe-inspiring St. Peter’s Basilica, or check out the Vatican Museum to see ancient works of art, including the famous Sistine Chapel, painted by Michelangelo. Visit bars and shop from street artists at the Piazza Navona, or learn about art and historical culture in the round and imposing Castel Sant’Angelo. As you explore the twisting streets and historical landmarks of Rome, you will understand just why the city inspires so much of a sense of romance and adventure. Enjoy dinner on your own and another evening out before returning to your hotel for one last night in Rome.

Included: Breakfast, Rome Walking Tour

Your departure from Rome might leave you wistful, but only until you arrive in Florence, the beautiful and gorgeous Tuscan city best known as the birthplace of the Renaissance. Florence, or Firenze as it is known by locals, is a gorgeous city set amongst the Tuscan hills, and it is an art lover’s dream. When you arrive in Florence by train, you and the group will have some time to get settled in your hotel rooms and explore the area by foot for a few hours before dinner, which is included. There, you will have the opportunity to try some incredible Tuscan dishes and, of course, Italian wine.

Included: Breakfast, Transportation to Florence, Dinner

Make sure to wear your walking shoes today, because after breakfast in the hotel, you’ll be headed out on a guided walking tour of the historic city center of Florence. Your local guide will show you some of the most famous sights and squares in the city, including the incredible and jaw-dropping Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore with its green and white tile facade and its iconic red dome, the medieval shops of the Ponte Vecchio bridge, and much more. We'll have pizza together at the end of the tour at our favorite place in the world!

After the tour, feel free to continue exploring Florence, perhaps with a visit to the famous Uffizi Gallery, which holds some of the most priceless and famous works of Renaissance art in existence, or a stop at Piazzale Michelangelo, with its replica of Michelangelo’s David (the original is housed in the Galleria dell'Accademia, which is also in Florence!) and its fantastic views of the city and the surrounding hills.

Included: Breakfast, Tour of Florence, Pizza Lunch

After breakfast and check-out, you’ll hop on a bus to Lucca, an Italian province where you’ll have the opportunity to tour a wine farm and try some of the amazing wine and olive oil produced on the premises. Your travel will continue by bus and by train until you reach Monterosso al Mare, the northernmost village in the collection of five coastal towns known as Cinque Terre. Once you are settled into your hotel in Monterosso al Mare, you’ll have an afternoon to spend on the beach and exploring shops until dinner, where you’ll try some coastal specialties from this region.

Included: Breakfast, Wine Tasting, Transportation to Monterosso al Mare, Dinner

Enjoy a morning meal in your hotel before joining your local guide for a tour of the five villages of Cinque Terre. The tour will be both by train and by foot, so be prepared to do a lot of walking as you travel to the town of Riomaggiore, with its colorful buildings and steep cliffside streets. Next, you’ll see Manarola, with its gorgeous structures built right into the cliffs and its distinct Italian dialect of Manarolese.

On your next stop in Vernazza, you’ll enjoy lunch to refresh yourself and gain more energy for exploring the steep, twisting roads of this little village. You’ll end your trip back in Monterosso, where your guide will show you around the town where you are staying before ending the tour. The rest of your day is your own, perhaps to visit the tiny town of Corniglia which, with its steep steps up to the town where it sits high on the cliffs, is the fifth village of Cinque Terre.

Included: Breakfast, Cinque Terre Tour, Closing Dinner

We’re sad to see you go. We'll arrange your train back to Rome or continue wandering on to other parts of Italy.
