Carmen Huter

Far far away from her familiar Austrian home, the land of the long white cloud, New Zealand, inspired Carmen to chase mountain peaks and sun rays. In every free minute that her university degree and two jobs allowed, she slowly went on to venture off to lands across the waters; soon also with a camera in hands.

Fast forward to three years later, leaping from corporate to creative, Carmen decided to step into the unknown and follow the urge to pursue photography. A loyal following of 130k+ on social media, several National Geographic online features, many trusted brand partnerships and more than three dozen countries later, the once unknown has morphed itself into a beautiful, messy reality the photographer is eager to share with you.

To create more than to consume are words the 25 year old lives by.

Zagreb: Get a caffeine buzz while in Croatia’s capital at any of the endless café terraces. Admire the colorful roof of St. Mark’s Church or explore the quirky museums like the Museum of Broken Relationships.

Zadar: Zadar is the second largest city in Dalmatia, and one of the oldest, continuously inhabited cities in Europe. Watch a memorable sunset over the ocean and experience local art as you walk over the solar-powered work of art known as the Greeting to the Sun.

Split: A historical coastal city where remnants of the ancient Roman palace are built into hundreds of homes and restaurants throughout the city center. Split is the perfect homebase for yachting from island to island.

You’ve made it! We’ll meet you at the airport in Zagreb and transfer you to the hotel. For those of you who arrive early, enjoy a city tour covering St. Mark Church, Tkalčiceva street and more.

Meet the crew for dinner at 8pm and cheers to the adventure that lies ahead!

Arrival: Welcome dinner at 8pm. Fly into Zagreb Airport (ZAG).

Included: Airport Transfer, Welcome Dinner

Breakfast will be provided before hitting the road for Plitvice Lakes National Park. We'll arrive when the park opens to get the best photo and lighting opportunities.

Afterwards, the journey will continue on to Zadar.

Photography Workshop: We will spend a few hours discussing composition, equipment, how to have a voice and create a loyal online community, image backup and post processing. Naturally, I am available all week to answer your queries, yet today will be a more formal setting.

Included: Breakfast, Tour of Plitvice Lakes National Park, Entrance Fees, Photography Workshop

Enjoy a relaxed morning at the hotel or out discovering Zadar. Later, we’ll venture to Paklenica for some hiking and photography. Paklenica is one of the deepest canyons in the world and home to many animals including eagles, falcons, bats, deer and bears (oh my!).

We’ll wrap up our day trip with a sunset shoot in the park before returning to Zadar for the evening.

Included: Breakfast, Paklenica Hike

Climb aboard and experience an early morning boat excursion to Dugi Otok. We'll discover hidden coves, beautiful white pebble beaches, turquoise water and a lighthouse from 1849. Enjoy the clean sea, take in the fresh scent of pine trees and relax as you capture content by the water.

Included: Breakfast, Boat Excursion to Dugi Otok

Wake up for an early morning departure to Krka National Park and explore Šibenik on a guided tour. We'll visit popular sites including Visovac Monastery or the UNESCO Cathedral of St. Jacob and enjoy epic views such as the St. Mihovil Fortress.

We'll head back to Split to wrap up the incredible day of exploration.

Included: Breakfast, Tour of Krka National Park, Entrance Fees, Tour of Šibenik

Today, we'll travel to Hvar and Pakleni by speed boat on another boat excursion. We’ll enjoy one final meal together and cheers to the memories made along the way!

Included: Breakfast, Boat Excursion to Hvar and Pakleni Islands, Farewell Dinner

For those not leaving until later, join us on one last guided city tour of Split. Experience the Diocletian cellars, St. Duje Cathedral, Riva promenade, Marjan hill and incrdeible rooftop views. Airport transfer included!

Departure: You'll wake up in Split. Fly out of Split Airport (SPU).

We cater to adults past the stage of roughing it - that means no hostels and no hotels below 3 stars. We strive to create an experience that’s not only authentic, but also easily accessible and comfortable. All hotel locations are conveniently located near the heart of each major destination, so you can live like a local. Less time in transit means more time doing; save the commute for back home.
No more than 20 travelers on each trip. In order to create a personalized experience, we feel it is important to keep group sizes smaller. Sometimes, less is more!
We try to start and end all trips in a major city with an international airport for your convenience. It’s up to you whether or not you want to continue your adventure after the trip ends!
We will send a detailed itinerary with everything you need to know at least 2 weeks prior to your trip start date including hotel information and airport transfer information (if included). Before your trip, you’ll be invited to both a Facebook and WhatsApp group to meet the other travelers and start exchanging information. You can expect each trip to kick off with a welcome dinner for you to meet everyone after settling into your room. Bon Appétit!
Unless listed otherwise, you’ll sleep in twin or double shared accommodations with private bathrooms. Traveling with a friend? Just plug in their name while booking under "Special Requests" or shoot us an email at hi@trovatrip.com and we’ll ensure you’re roomed together. Uncomfortable with sharing a room? No problem! Most of our trips offer a single supplement option that you can choose when booking.
Excellent question! We’ll provide a full itinerary including hotel and transportation details at least 2 weeks prior to your trip including all necessary travel information. Accommodations often change depending on the group size, so we like to get the exact itinerary out to you when finalized to avoid confusion.
